A severe thunderstorm early Tuesday morning caused widespread damage to parts of Cottonwood and Jackson counties.
Trees and branches were knocked down in the Mt. Lake area, as well as in areas around Fish Lake.
In addition, Federated Rural Electric announced that the storm knocked out power to nearly 600 customers in northern Jackson County and southern Cottonwood County. Hardest hit were Lakeside Township in Cottonwood County, as well as Christiania and Delafield townships in Jackson County. Crews were on hand quickly to try to restore power.
