The Windom Pirates shook off a slow start Wednesday, erupting in the middle innings to claim a 10-0 victory over the Heron Lake Lakers in First Nite League action at Island Park.
Pirate starting pitcher Ross Ackerman held the Lakers to one hit and walked two while fanning eight in six innings of shutout work on the mound.
The Pirates broke a scoreless tie in the third inning when Chase McDaniel hit an RBI single.
Windom then erupted for five runs in the fourth. Two runs scored on an error, Jake Tauer hit an RBI double and McDaniel hit a two-run double.
Windom added three runs in the fifth, scoring on a Brett Willaby groundout and a pair of wild pitches. Windom added a Luke Gilbertson RBI groundout in the sixth.
Tauer and McDaniel each had two hits in the victory.
