Section 3A Meet
For the first time since 2017, Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central will be represented at the Class A State Track and Field Meet, following Thursday’s Section 3A Meet in Pipestone.
Chargers Bowen Hesse and Adrian Yang qualified for the state meet in the 110-meter hurdles and pole vault, respectively.
WWG/RRC’s boys finished 14th in the team standings with 20 points. Hancock won the team section title with 83 points.
The Charger girls were 20th in the team standings with eight points. Luverne won the team title with 94½ points.
Hesse advanced to state with a runner-up finish in the 110 hurdles, finishing with a time of 15.90 seconds. He also finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 43.83 seconds.
Yang advanced as the section runner-up in the pole vault, clearing 11-10.
The Charger girls were led by Miranda Mischke, who placed third in the high jump with a leap of 4-11. Ally Linder added a seventh-place finish in the shot put (31-3).
