One rough inning doomed Mt. Lake Area/Comfrey Thursday, as the Wolverines fell 8-2 to New Ulm Cathedral in the Section 2A playoffs at New Ulm.
Cathedral did all of its damage in the bottom of the second inning, scoring eight runs on three hits, three walks and two Wolverine errors.
MLAC scored in the top of the fifth on a throwing error, then added a run in the sixth on a wild pitch.
Ellamae Peters, Phithsada Phoumivong and Mikaya Schroeder each had two hits in the loss.
Ashlyn Pfeiffer took the pitching loss, allowing five hits and four walks while striking out two.
