The filing period opened Tuesday for several Cottonwood County elected positions.
So far, candidates have filed for two of the three county commissioner seats up for election, as well as three of the four elected county department heads.
As of Thursday morning, these candidates have filed for election:
Commissioner District 1: Incumbent Larry Anderson has filed for re-election.
Commissioner District 3: No candidates have filed yet. Donna Gravley is the incumbent.
Commissioner District 5: Incumbent Tom Appel has filed for re-election.
County Sheriff: No candidates have filed yet. Jason Purrington is the incumbent.
County Attorney: Incumbent Nicholas Anderson has filed for re-election.
County Auditor/Treasurer: Incumbent Carolyn Rempel has filed for election. Rempel was appointed to the position after the resignation of Donna Torkelson, who was elected in 2022.
County Recorder: Incumbent Susan Horkey has filed for election. Horkey was appointed to the position after the retirement of Kathy Kretsch, who was elected in 2022.
Soil and Water District 1: Incumbent David Bucklin has filed for re-election.
Soil and Water District 3: Incumbent Daryl Tasler has filed for re-election.
The filing period for county offices continues until June 2 at 5 p.m. Candidates need to file in person at the county auditor/treasurer’s office.
