The Windom Area music department will present two spring concert nights, beginning with the annual Pops Concert on Monday, followed by the fourth- through eighth-grade spring concerts on Tuesday. Both events will be held in The Nest (Blue Gym).
The Windom Area High School Music Department will present its annual Pops Concert at 7 p.m. Monday. During the program, seniors and musical participants will be recognized for their fine arts accomplishments.
The concert will begin with the Gold Choir performing a medley from the musical “Grease,” followed by the Girls Pop Group performing “I Need a Hero.” The Eagle Choir will perform selections from its Disney performance, including “Happy Together — Growing Up in the Wonder Years,” narrated by Lane Steele and “Let the River Run,” as well as a combined performance by the Eagle Choir and Mixed Pop Group of the medley from “Jersey Boys.”
The high school bands will perform familiar tunes such as “Sweet Caroline,” “Handclap” and a medley from “The Phantom of the Opera,” as well as several other selections.
The fourth- through eighth-grade spring concerts will be held Tuesday. Fourth- and fifth-graders will perform at 6 p.m. The program will begin with the fourth-grade classes playing recorders, followed by singing. All of the fifth-grade classes will sing together and some ukulele players will be featured. To close the program, the fifth-grade band will make its debut performance.
The sixth- through eighth-grade spring concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. The program will start with the sixth-graders singing a medley from the classic “Schoolhouse Rock!” cartoon, followed by the seventh- and eighth-grade choir performing “Sixties With a Twist” and an arrangement of Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds.”
The attention will then turn to the middle school bands. Each middle school band will play two upbeat band compositions, including some movie music. Near the end of the program, the seventh- and eighth-grade bands will combine to perform “Terracotta Warriors.”
The concert will conclude with the audience and all performers joining in a spirited performance of “Eagles on Parade.”
