The Windom Eagle baseball team made the most of its scoring chances Thursday afternoon, walking its way to a 13-8 victory over Jackson County Central at Island Park.
Both teams’ pitchers struggled to find the strike zone consistently in the game, as the contest featured 20 walks between the two teams. Windom hitters drew 12 walks in the contest.
Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the second, the Eagles rallied to take the lead for good. Jackson Joyce hit an RBI double, Soren Nielsen plated a run by reaching on an error and later scored on a balk and Stevie Meyer scored on a wild pitch.
But 4-3 in the bottom of the second, the Eagles padded the lead. Nielsen and Easton Piotter hit RBI singles, Matthew Voehl plated a run with a squeeze bunt, Piotter scored on a balk and Ben Ludewig scored in a wild pitch.
Windom added a run in the third on a Nielsen sacrifice fly for a 10-4 lead. The Eagles added a pair of runs in the fifth, as Meyer hit an RBI single and Jackson Joyce scored on an error. Windom’s final run scored in the sixth on a balk.
JCC mounted a comeback in the seventh inning, loading the bases and scoring on two bases-loaded walks and a hit batsman, but a strikeout and two pop-outs ended the threat and the game.
Joyce had two hits in the win for the Eagles. He also picked up the pitching victory, allowing eight hits and two walks in four innings. He struck out three.

Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove mounted a furious comeback to tie the game in the seventh inning, but Mt. Lake Area/Comfrey got a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh to defeat the Falcons 12-11 for its third walk-off win of the season at Mt. Lake.
The Wolverines raced to an early lead, scoring four times in the first inning. Thomas Hesse hit an RBI double, Alden Klassen had an RBI single and two runs scored on errors.
The Falcons got on the board in the second on an error, but the Wolverines padded the lead in the bottom of the inning. Jason Wright hit a two-run double and Nolan Peters added a two-run single for an 8-1 lead.
RRC/WWG pulled to within 8-3 on a wild pitch and a Mason Krick RBI single in the fourth, but the Wolverines added an RBI double from Wright to take a 9-3 lead.
In the fifth, the Falcons trimmed the deficit to 9-6 as a run scored on a wild pitch and Carter Therkilsen hit a two-run single, but the Wolverines answered as Khalid Fontanez hit a two-run double for an 11-6 lead.
In the top of the seventh, the Falcons put together a two-out rally. Krick hit a two-run single and three runs scored on wild pitches to tie the game at 11-11 before a pop-out ended the rally.
In the bottom of the seventh, Ramses Vasquez was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Tryton Khounsanthone bunted him to second and a wild pitch sent Vasquez to third before Landon Simon ended the game with an RBI sacrifice fly.
Simon had three hits in the win for the Wolverines.
Therkilsen had three hits in the loss for the Falcons. Jackson Jenniges and Krick had two hits each.
Morales worked the final inning on the mound to take the pitching win. He allowed three hits and walked one.
Jordan Therkilsen took the loss for the Falcons, allowing a run on a hit in one-third of an inning of relief.
