The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners agreed that the need for day care services for children in the county is important, but the board was hesitant to use local levy dollars to address the shortage.
Fortunately, the board was able to find another way to address the issue.
At Tuesday’s meeting, the board approved using $100,000 in federal Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund dollars as a one-time subsidy for current and planned day care facilities operated by five schools that serve the county.
The final amounts approved are:
• Windom: $31,950
• Mt. Lake Public: $27,300
• Westbrook-Walnut Grove: $20,750
• Comfrey: $10,000
• Mt. Lake Christian: $10,000
