Mt. Lake Area/Comfrey picked up a pair of Red Rock Conference victories Saturday, sweeping a doubleheader from Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 11-3 and 8-2 at Munson Field.
In the opener, the Wolverines broke the game open early, scoring six times in the first three innings before tacking on a four-run fifth inning.
MLAC got on the board in the top of the first, scoring on a throwing error.
In the second, Kathryn Wassman plated a run on a groundout, Mikaya Schroeder drove in a run reaching on an error and Julia Brinkman hit an RBI single.
Kelby Janzen added a two-run single in the third for a 6-1 lead.
In the fourth, MLAC scored on an error. Then, in the fifth, Schroeder hit a bases-clearing double and scored on a wild pitch.
Brinkman, Janzen and Wassman had two hits each.
Pfeiffer earned the pitching win, scattering eight hits and four walks while striking out nine.
In the nightcap, the Wolverines broke a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning, scoring six unanswered runs for the 8-2 win.
MLAC took the lead in the first on a Phithsada Phoumivong RBI single and an error.
Then, in the fourth, back-to-back RBI doubles from Adleigh Olson and Schroeder gave the Wolverines a 4-2 lead.
Kylie Phommachan added an RBI double in the fifth. Then, in the sixth, Ellamae Peters plated a run with a groundout and Pfeiffer ripped a two-run single.
Phoumivong, Olson and Schroeder each had two hits.
Pfeiffer earned the pitching win, allowing seven hits and a walk while striking out five.

Mt. Lake Area/Comfrey mounted a furious rally Friday, battling from 5-0 down to defeat Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian at Mt. Lake.
MLAC trailed 5-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning, but quickly loaded the bases and did damage. Mikaya Schroeder drew a bases-loaded walk, followed by RBI singles from Julia Brinkman and Ellamae Peters. Phithsada Phoumivong plated a run by reaching on an error. Ashlyn Pfeiffer then brought home a pair of runs when she reached on an error. Nadia Phommachan and Adleigh Olson added RBI singles to cap an eight-run inning.
Peters and Olson had two hits each in the win.
Pfeiffer picked up the pitching win, allowing 10 hits and a walk while striking out three.

Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove couldn’t get any offense generated Friday, dropping a 10-0 decision to Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in Tyler.
The Falcons were held to one hit in the game, as Leah Carter’s first-inning single gave the Falcons their only base hit.
RTR scored five runs in the third inning and three in the fourth, then walked off with the win with a pair of runs in the sixth.
Carlie Ross took the pitching loss, allowing eight hits and seven walks while striking out five.
