Worthington Invite
Windom and Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central were part of a loaded field at the Worthington Invitational Thursday.
The Windom boys placed sixth in the team standings with 60 points. WWG/RRC was 12th with 13 points. Murray County Central won the boys team title.
The Windom girls finished ninth with 32 points. WWG/RRC was 13th with 11 points. Hills-Beaver Creek won the girls team title.
Individually, Windom’s boys were led by Elliot Serreyn, who placed first in the high jump (5-10). Braylen Lyons placed second in the 800 (2:10.32) with Bryce Green third (2:12.00). Jeffrey Barrios finished third in the shot put (46-½). Royce Smith was fifth in the discus (113-10¾). Nolan Tjentland finished fifth in the 1,600 (5:16.92).
Windom’s team of Green, Isaac Bordewyk, Tjentland and Lyons won the 4×800 relay (8:39.02). The team of Green, Tyson Ysker, Serreyn and Lyons placed third in the 4×400 relay (3:49.10).
The Eagle girls were led by Haidyn Sammons, who took third in the 300 hurdles (55.53). Theora Ahnupkana placed fourth in the discus (100-9½) and fifth in the shot put (32-1).
WWG/RRC’s boys were led by Adrian Yang, who placed second in the pole vault (10-6). Grant Binnebose was fourth in the triple jump (36-7¾).
Addison Warner paced the Charger girls with a fifth-place finish in the 1,600 (6:16.67).
