An unearned run in the bottom of the seventh proved to be enough Thursday, as St. James walked off with a 1-0 victory over the Windom Eagle softball team in St. James.
The Saints got the leadoff runner on base by virtue of an error and bunted the runner to second. A stolen base put the winning run at third. St. James then scored on a safety squeeze bunt to end the game.
Windom had its best opportunities to score late in the game. In the top of the fifth, Addison Evans led off with a double and took third on a one-out single from Sadie Tjentland, but back-to-back strikeouts ended the threat.
Then, in the sixth, the Eagles had a runner thrown out at the plate for the first out of the inning. Then, with the bases loaded, an infield pop-up and a strikeout ended the threat.
Anja Nielsen took the tough pitching loss, allowing one unearned run on two hits. She walked one and struck out nine.

Mt. Lake Area/Comfrey scored every time it came to the plate Thursday as the Wolverines claimed a 15-5 victory over Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda. The game was played in Mt. Lake, but HLOF served as the home team.
The Wolverines got on the board quickly, scoring in the first inning on an Ellamae Peters squeeze bunt and an Ashlyn Pfeiffer RBI double.
In the second, Julia Brinkman hit an RBI single and Pfeiffer plated a run with a sacrifice fly for a 4-1 lead. Then, in the third, Nadia Phommachan launched a solo home run over the left field fence for a 5-1 lead.
Kylie Phommachan added an RBI double and Nadia Phommachan had an RBI single in the fourth, pushing the lead to 7-3. Then, in the fifth, the Wolverines scored on RBI singles from Pfeiffer, Izzy Penner and Brinkman and a bases-loaded walk.
MLAC scored on an error in the sixth, then added a bases-loaded walk and a two-run Pfeiffer double in the seventh, sealing the win.
Pfeiffer had four hits and five RBI in the win. Peters and Kelby Janzen had three hits each.
Pfeiffer picked up the pitching win, scattering eight hits and a walk while fanning 11.

RRC/WWG 101 001 0 = 3-10-1
Adrian/Ellsworth rallied in the late innings Thursday, claiming a 4-3 victory over Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove at Plum Creek Park near Walnut Grove.
RRC/WWG jumped to an early lead, scoring in the first on a DeAnn Roiger RBI groundout, then adding an RBI double from Roiger in the third.
The Dragons tied the game with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, then plated two runs in the sixth for a 4-2 lead. RRC/WWG cut the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth with a Carlie Ross RBI single, but with runners on second and third with two outs, a groundout ended the threat.
Natasha Wahl had three hits in the loss for the Falcons.
Ross took the pitching loss, allowing 10 hits and four walks while striking out four.
