Izabella J. Burka, 20, of Windom, has been charged in Cottonwood County District Court with third-degree assault, stemming from an alleged incident on April 13.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim told a Windom police officer that he and Burka had been dating and living together since December.
The victim alleged that Burka had been physically aggressive during arguments, including punching, kicking and elbowing both him and the walls. The victim also reported an incident where Burka allegedly stabbed a wall with a pocket knife.
In the most recent incident, the victim stated Burka had pushed him into a bedroom door, causing it to break off. The victim sought medical attention and was diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder.
The officer visited the residence and observed the broken bedroom door. Burka reportedly told the officer that during a physical altercation, both she and the victim grabbed each other and went through the door, which led to the victim’s dislocated shoulder.
If convicted, Burka faces a maximum possible sentence of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
