The Windom Eagle softball team couldn’t find a way to drive a run across the plate Tuesday, dropping a 3-0 decision to St. James at the Windom Recreation Area.
St. James pitcher Laney Bowers held the Eagles to three hits and struck out 15 hitters in the shutout win.
The Saints plated a pair of runs in the top of the second inning, scoring on an error and an infield groundout.
Windom mounted a threat in the bottom of the inning with two runners on base, but a pair of strikeouts ended the threat.
The Saints added a final run in the fifth inning on an RBI single.
Anja Nielsen took the pitching loss, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out 10.

Mt. Lake Area/Comfrey fell behind early and never recovered Tuesday, dropping a 9-5 decision to Adrian/Ellsworth in Mt. Lake.
The Dragons plated three runs in the top of the first, then added a run in the second for a 4-0 lead.
The Wolverines got on the board in the bottom of the third on a Phithsada Phoumivong RBI single, but the Dragons added a pair of runs in the top of the fourth for a 6-1 lead.
Julia Brinkman added a two-run double in the fourth, cutting the deficit to 6-3.
The Wolverines added their final two runs in the seventh, scoring on a Kathryn Wassman RBI single and a wild pitch.
Phoumivong had two hits in the loss for the Wolverines.
Ashlyn Pfieffer took the pitching loss, allowing 14 hits and five walks while striking out five.
