The Windom Eagle baseball team jumped out to an early lead and never looked back Tuesday, cruising to an 11-4 victory at state-ranked Luverne.
The Eagles plated three runs in each of their first two trips to the plate, then tacked on four more runs in the fourth inning to take a 10-1 lead.
Windom got on the board in the top of the first, scoring on an errant pickoff attempt, a Stevie Meyer RBI single and a fielding error.
In the second, Windom added a run on an error and a two-run single from Joe Walinga.
Windom blew the game open in the fourth. Meyer hit an RBI single and three runs scored when Walinga reached on an error.
Windom’s final run scored on a Jackson Joyce RBI groundout.
Hayden Tietz had three hits in the Eagle win. Joyce, Soren Nielsen, Meyer and Matt Redman had two hits each.
Joyce picked up the pitching win, working the first 4-⅔ innings. He allowed four runs on three hits, walked six and struck out two.

Mt. Lake Area/Comfrey rallied late, securing a walk-off 9-8 victory over Adrian/Ellsworth Tuesday in Mt. Lake.
The Wolverines plated five runs in the bottom of the fifth. Then, in the bottom of the seventh, the Wolverines tied the game on a Jason Wright single and scored the winning run on a wild pitch.
MLAC took an early lead when Khalid Fontanez scored on an error. Then, in the second, Alden Klassen ripped an RBI single, giving MLAC a 2-1 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth, Thomas Hesse drew a bases-loaded walk, followed by back-to-back two-run doubles from Fontanez and Wright.
The Dragons took an 8-7 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth, but in the seventh, Landon Simon and Hesse led off with singles. Fontanez drew an intentional walk. Wright followed with an RBI single. Then, with two outs, a wild pitch allowed the Wolverines to score the winning run.
Fontanez and Wright each had two hits in the win.
Tryton Khounsanthone picked up the pitching win, working 1-⅓ innings of relief. He allowed two walks and struck out one.

Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove scored a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning to claim a 3-2 victory over Renville County West Tuesday in Sacred Heart.
The Falcons tied the game a 1-1 in the top of the second on a Carter Therkilsen RBI groundout.
Then, in the top of the sixth, the Falcons scored on a Max Krick RBI single and added a run on an errant throw.
RCW pulled to within 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth, but the Falcons were able to retire the Jaguars in the seventh to seal the win.
Jackson Jenniges worked six innings for the pitching win, allowing four hits and one walk while fanning eight. Jordan Therkilsen pitched a scoreless seventh for the save, striking out two.
