TRACK: Wolverines host A&W Invite

A&W Invite

Mt. Lake Area/Comfrey’s girls and boys each placed fourth and Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central’s girls and boys each placed fifth at the A&W Invitational, held Thursday at Mt. Lake.

For the girls, MLAC finished with 64 points. WWG/RRC scored 60. St. James/Madelia won the meet with 190 points.

For the boys, MLAC finished with 75 points. WWG/RRC scored 66. Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton/Waterville-Elysian-Morristown won the meet with 241 points.

MLAC

The MLAC girls were led by Gracie Peters and Katie Johnson, who each captured an individual first-place finish.

Peters won the 400-meter dash (1:01.00) while Johnson won the 1,600 (5:58.00). Emily Johnson placed third in the 3,200 (15:36.00) with Galaxie Penner fourth (15:40.00). Abigail Beyer was third in the 100 hurdles (19.40). Keara Anacker was fourth in the high jump (4-6). MLAC’s team of Katie Johnson, Emily Johnson, Hannah Beyer and Peters placed second in the 4×800 relay (11:33.00).

The Wolverine boys were led by Joseph Torres, who placed first in both the 1,600 (4:52.00) and 3,200 (11:03.00). Cooper Evers was second in the 1,600 (4:52.10) and 3,200 (11:08.00). Cameron Meyer was second in the high jump (5-10) and fourth in the 110 hurdles (18.60). Rolando Tema Tema finished third in the 400 (59.89). Sutter Green finished third in the discus (108-6).

WWG/RRC

WWG/RRC’s girls were paced by Miranda Mischke, who finished second in the high jump (4-10) and fourth in the 800 (2:45.00). Ally Linder finished third in the shot put (28-5½).

The Charger boys were led by Bowen Hesse, who won the 110 hurdles (15.90) and took third in the 300 hurdles (45.50). Adrian Yang added a first-place finish in the pole vault (11-6).
