The Windom Eagle baseball team had a strong day at the plate Friday, cruising to a 19-4 victory over Redwood Valley at Redwood Falls.
The Eagles jumped to an early lead with five runs in the top of the first inning. Easton Piotter hit an RBI single, Matthew Voehl followed with a two-run single and Joe Waling and Matt Redman hit RBI singles.
After Redwood Valley cut the deficit to 5-2, the Eagles erupted in the third for 12 runs. Ben Ludewig plated a run with a squeeze bunt, with three runs scoring on Cardinal errors. Soren Nielsen followed with a two-run single, Voehl plated a run with a groundout, Redman hit a two-run double and three more runs scored on errors.
Windom’s final runs scored in the fifth on RBI singles from Tyler Maras and Eli Muske.
Redman led the Eagles with two hits in the win.
Voehl picked up the pitching win, allowing four runs on five hits in three innings. He walked three and struck out three.

For the second straight game, Mt. Lake Area/Comfrey had its hitting shoes on Friday, slugging out 12 hits on its way to a 17-1 victory over Truman/Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain in Mt. Lake.
The Wolverines took command early, scoring in the first inning on a wild pitch.
Then, in the second, two runs scored on an error, a run scored on a wild pitch, Ram Vasquez hit a run-scoring fielder’s choice and Jason Wright drew a bases-loaded walk.
The Wolverines blew the game open in the third. RBI singles from Khalid Fontanez and Thomas Hesse set up Wright with the bases loaded. Wright unloaded them with a triple, then scored on an error. Heber Morales added an RBI single for a 14-0 Wolverine lead.
MLAC scored its final runs in the fourth on a Wright RBI single and a two-run Tyson Behrends single.
Wright finished the game with three hits and five RBI.
Fontanez picked up the pitching win, working four strong innings. He allowed two hits, walked one and struck out six.

Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove used a big third inning to claim a 6-4 victory Friday over Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda in Lamberton.
The Falcons got on the board in the first on a Jackson Jenniges RBI groundout.
Then, trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the third, the Falcons took the lead for good. Colton Schaffran plated a run with a fielder’s choice, Trenton Blomgren hit a run-scoring sacrifice fly and Jonah Skarupa hit an RBI triple.
The Falcons’ final run scored in the fourth on a Jake Erickson RBI single.
Jordan Therkilsen picked up the pitching win, working five innings. He allowed three hits, walked two and struck out nine.
