Alicia S. Gonzalez, 25, has been charged in Cottonwood County District Court of second-degree burglary of a dwelling.
Gonzalez is listed as homeless, with a previous address in Mankato.
According to the criminal complaint, Windom police officers were contacted on April 1 about a possible burglary at a residence on March 30. The reporting party indicated that a woman, later identified as Gonzalez, had broken into her home the previous night and was seen walking around the property.
An officer found Gonzalez, who stated she had been staying with the reporting party the previous two nights. She claimed to have entered the house through an unlocked side door earlier to take a shower, believing the reporting party wouldn’t mind.
The reporting party reported meeting Gonzalez on Tinder and stated that Gonzalez had been asked to leave her home multiple times. Upon returning home after visiting her sister, the reporting party noticed her furniture had been rearranged, and several items, including a black pocketknife, were missing. The party also reported property damage and found her dirty dishes cleaned, indicating someone had been in the house. Friends had captured videos of Gonzalez walking around inside the house.
After she was arrested, Gonzalez was searched. A black pocketknife was on her person.
If convicted, the maximum possible sentence is 10 years in prison, a $20,000 fine or both.
