Leroy S. Perkins, 21, of Windom has been charged in Cottonwood County District Court with felony threats of violence and fifth-degree assault, with two or more convictions in three years.
According to the criminal complaint, Mt. Lake police officers were contacted on March 28 by three teens, who reported a male had flashed a handgun at them at a birthday party at an apartment. The teens identified Perkins, stating he became confrontational and made aggressive statements, including threats to fight them. One of the victims recorded audio of the altercation, which corroborated their statements. The victims reported Perkins lifted his shirt to display a black handgun tucked into his waistband.
When questioned by officers, Perkins denied making threats or possessing a firearm. Searches of the apartment and several vehicles did not yield a firearm.
Both charges, if convicted, carry a maximum possible sentence of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both.
