The Windom Eagles opened the season in tough fashion Tuesday afternoon, dropping a walk-off 3-2 decision to Jackson County Central in Jackson.
The Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the third on a two-run single by Stevie Meyer. But JCC chipped away at the deficit with runs in the third and fourth innings.
In the bottom of the seventh, JCC put the leadoff hitter on base on an error and eventually loaded the bases with two outs. The Huskies then scored the winning run when catchers interference was called on the Eagles, allowing the winning run to score.
Joe Walinga took the tough pitching loss, allowing an unearned run in two-thirds of an inning of relief.

Lakeview 001 001 0 = 2-4-3
Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove picked up its first win of the season Tuesday, jumping to an early lead and claiming a 6-2 victory over Lakeview at Cottonwood.
The Falcons plated four runs in the top of the second inning. Braxton Weber drew a bases-loaded walk, Jake Erickson hit a two-run single and a run scored on a wild pitch.
The Falcons added a run in the third on a Jackson Jenniges RBI single. Jenniges added another RBI single in the fifth.
Jenniges had two of the Falcons’ four hits in the win.
Weber picked up the pitching win, working six strong innings. He allowed two runs on four hits, walked three and struck out two.
