Section 3A Meet
The 2025-26 gymnastics season wrapped up for the Windom Area gymnastics team Saturday, but not without one of the team’s best scores of the season.
The Eagles posted a score of 112.8 at the Section 3A Meet, held in Redwood Falls. That put the Eagles in seventh place in the team standings. Worthington won the team championship, scoring a 142.675.
The Eagles started the meet as the first team to perform on balance beam. While the Eagles were able to cut down on the number of falls from the beam, the scores were low as the first team to perform. Naomi Rete posted a team-best score of 6.95, while Jesselle Sosa added a 6.85 and Courtney Schroeder had a 6.8.
The Eagles moved to floor exercise for the third rotation of the meet, with Kirstin Nickel scoring a team-best 8.0. Schroeder added a 7.775 and Teagyn Powers finished with a 7.575.
The Eagles moved to vault for the fifth rotation and recorded their best scores of the meet. Powers led the way with an 8.225, followed by Nickel with an 8.0. Schroeder and Morgan Bennett each added a 7.9.
The final rotation of the meet saw the Eagles on the uneven bars, with Schroeder scoring a team-best 6.55. Nickel had a 6.175.
The top three scorers in the all-around competition qualify for the state meet in all four events. Additionally, the top three finishers in each event who are not all-around qualifiers advance to the state meet, which will be held Friday and Saturday at Roy Wilkens Auditorium in St. Paul.
