Luverne broke the game open in the second half Thursday, as the Windom Eagles dropped an 83-75 decision at Luverne.
The Cardinals used a 9-0 run to open up an 11-point lead the Eagles wouldn’t recover from.
The Eagles briefly held the lead early in the second half before Luverne went on a 6-0 run. Then, after the Eagles trimmed the deficit to 54-52, Luverne punctuated the win with a 9-0 run.
The Cardinals shot 49% from the field for the game, while holding the Eagles to 32% from the field.
Haidyn Sammons led the Eagles with 39 points. Alivia Letcher added 13 points and Anja Nielsen scored 11 in the loss.

Madelia 30-14 = 44
Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey imposed its will on defense over the final 25 minutes of the game Thursday, pulling away for an 80-44 victory at Madelia.
After holding a four-point lead halfway through the first half, the Wolverines closed the half with a 28-13 run to open a 19-point advantage.
MLAC then held Madelia to 14 second-half points, forcing 24 turnovers for the game. MLAC recorded 20 steals as a team.
Julia Brinkman led the Wolverines with 25 points. Mikaya Schroeder added 21 points and six steals.
