The newspapers of Citizen Publishing have received seven awards in the annual Better Newspaper Contest by the Minnesota Newspaper Association.
Cottonwood County Citizen reporter Joel Alvstad received first place in the paper’s circulation group in the category of Hard News – Coverage of Crime/Courts. The award was for the story following the New Year’s Eve 2024 stabbing at the Phat Pheasant Pub.
The Citizen also received second place for General Excellence and third place for Typography and Design in its circulation group.
The Mt. Lake-Butterfield Observer/Advocate received first place for General Excellence in its circulation group, as well as second place for Advertising Excellence, third place for Typography and Design and third place for Sports Reporting.
