The Windom boys basketball team lead wire-to-wire Saturday and saw a career milestone hit in the process, as the Eagles defeated Martin County West 75-36 at Trimont.
The Eagles opened the game with a 14-0 run. During that run, a free throw by Elliot Serreyn gave him 1,000 points for his varsity career, becoming just the seventh Eagle boy to surpass the 1,000-point milestone.
The Eagles shot a sizzling 51% from the field for the game and forced 30 Maverick turnovers. Windom outscored MCW 22-4 off turnovers in the game.
Serreyn finished with a game-high 21 points in the win. Henry Visker added 20 points and Jackson Joyce scored nine points in the win.
Wabasso 48-45 = 93
RRC 32-36 = 68
Wabasso pulled away late in the first half, then continued to score at will in the second half Saturday, racing to a 93-68 win over Red Rock Central at Lamberton.
The Falcons briefly held the lead in the first half, but Wabasso used a 14-1 run to establish a lead it wouldn’t relinquish.
The Rabbits then maintained a double-digit lead much of the second half, shooting 55% from the field for the game.
Henry Stavnes led the Falcons with 30 points in the loss. Jordan Therkilsen added 14 and Finn Batalden finished with 10.
BLHS 25-19 = 44
RRC 25-23 = 48
Red Rock Central picked up its first victory of the season Friday, pulling away late for a 48-44 victory over Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart in Lamberton.
The Falcons started the second half with an 8-2 run and built a 10-point lead. BLHS battled back, cutting the deficit down to one in the closing minutes before the Falcons scored the final points to seal the victory.
Henry Stavnes led the Falcons with 18 points. Austin Imker added 14 points in the win.
MLAC 27-32 = 59
St. James 41-49 = 90
Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey couldn’t keep pace with a hot-shooting St. James team Friday night, as the Saints secured a 90-59 win at St. James.
St. James shot 46% from the field and capitalized on Wolverine turnovers, outscoring MLAC 21-2 off turnovers for the game.
The Saints were able to pull away late in the opening half, building a 14-point cushion before surging early in the second half for the win.
Aidan Olson led MLAC with 19 points in the loss. Micah Fast added 15 points and Maxton Fast finished with 14.
