Henry Yqvani Alvarez-Hernandez, 26, of Windom has been charged in Cottonwood County District Court with receiving stolen property.
According to the criminal complaint, on Jan. 23, a Windom police officer received a report of a stolen firearm that had last been seen a week earlier when the reporting party had gone hunting. The reporting party provided a description and serial number for the gun.
On Oct. 9, Alvarez-Hernandez was in jail on a warrant arrest. After being read the Miranda warning and agreeing to talk, Alvarez-Hernandez was asked about several thefts. Alvarez-Hernandez told the officer he didn’t remember anything because he was drunk. After questioning, a search warrant was performed and a rifle with a serial number matching the missing weapon was discovered.
If convicted, Alvarez-Hernandez faces a maximum possible sentence of 20 years in prison, a $100,000 fine or both.
