Fairmont caught fire on offense in the second half Tuesday night, erupting for 51 second-half points on its way to a 78-52 win over the Windom girls basketball team at Fairmont.
The Eagles held a one-point lead at halftime, but started the half with an 8-0 run, then went on a 10-0 run later in the half. Fairmont outscored the Eagles 34-17 off of turnovers and 19-4 in transition.
Alivia Letcher led the Eagles with 21 points in the loss. Haidyn Sammons added 15 points.
MLAC 29-32 = 61
Edgerton 24-13 = 37
Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey turned up the heat in the second half, outscoring Edgerton 32-13 over the final 18 minutes to claim a 61-37 victory at Edgerton.
The Wolverines held a slim five-point advantage at halftime, but a 10-4 run to start the second half, followed by a 8-0 run later in the half gave the Wolverines a comfortable margin of victory.
The Wolverines outscored the Dutchmen 14-0 in transition after forcing 27 Edgerton turnovers.
Julia Brinkman led the Wolverines with 20 points. Mikaya Schroeder chipped in 14 and Ellamae Peters added 11 points in the win.
RRC 20-16 = 36
WWG 40-35 = 75
Westbrook-Walnut Grove’s defense and hot shooting allowed the Chargers to race to a 75-36 victory Tuesday over Red Rock Central at Westbrook.
The Chargers battered the Falcons inside in the game, shooting 47% from two-point range. WWG also held a 17-2 scoring edge from the free throw line in the game.
Meanwhile, WWG’s defense forced 30 Falcon turnovers, which allowed WWG to have a 37-4 scoring edge off of turnovers.
Celia Vogel led RRC with 12 points in the loss. Kendra Schroeder finished with six points.
