GIRLS HOCKEY: Eagles skate past Blue Devils

Windom Area 1-1-2 = 4
PCA 0-0-1 = 1

The Windom Area girls hockey team made the most of its scoring chances Saturday afternoon, grabbing a 4-1 victory over Prairie Centre Area in Sauk Centre.

The Eagles had good offensive pressure much of the game, but were able to take a lead late in the opening period when Alicia Meyeraan stuffed home a feed from Kennady Dronen.

Late in the second, Meyeraan scored her second goal of the game after intercepting a clearing attempt by the Blue Devils.

The Eagles stretched the lead to 3-0 halfway through the third period, when Ashlyn Koch picked up a loose puck and scored an unassisted goal.

PCA cut the deficit to 3-1 with just under seven minutes to play in the game, but the Eagles iced the victory in the final minute as Emma Axford scored off a feed from Koch.

Both teams finished with 25 shots on goal. Fiona Robillard finished with 24 saves in the win.
