Luverne closed the first half strong Saturday, establishing a lead it wouldn’t relinquish on its way to a 74-59 win over the Windom Eagle boys basketball team in a game played at Target Center in Minneapolis.
The Cardinals closed the opening half with a 14-3 run after the Eagles had taken a 24-23 lead.
The Eagles were able to close the deficit to four points early in the second half before Luverne used an 8-0 run to push the lead back into double figures.
Elliot Serreyn led the Eagles with 22 points in the loss. Henry Visker scored 13 and Stevie Meyer finished with 12.
St. James 32-52 = 84
Windom 36-45 = 81
St. James erupted on offense in the second half Friday night, pulling away late for an 84-81 victory over the Windom Eagles.
Windom held a four-point advantage at halftime, but St. James caught fire from the outside in the second half, hitting five three-pointers as a team and finishing with five double-figure scorers in the game.
The Saints sealed the win by outscoring the Eagles 11-1 from the free throw line in the second half.
Jackson Joyce led the Eagles with 23 points. Elliot Serreyn added 18 points, Henry Visker scored 11 and Joe Walinga finished with 10 in the loss.
Edgerton 39-48 = 87

A strong second half propelled Edgerton to an 87-70 victory over Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey Friday night in Mt. Lake.
MLAC rode the hot hands of Aidan Olson and Maxton Fast early, as Olson accounted for 14 first-half points and Fast added 11. The Wolverines trailed by five points at the break.
But in the second half, Edgerton knocked down eight three-pointers, pulling away for the victory.
Olson finished with 24 points to lead MLAC. Fast added 20 points and Jordan Khamkhaykeo finished with 13.
RRC 36-16 = 52
HBC 50-37 = 87
A powerful Hills-Beaver Creek squad overwhelmed Red Rock Central in the second half Friday night, pulling away for an 87-52 victory at Hills.
HBC powered its way to a 14-point halftime lead, then put the clamps on the Falcon offense, outscoring RRC 37-16 in the second half to seal the victory.
Henry Stavnes led the Falcons with 27 points in the loss. Jordan Therkilsen added 10 points.
