Cottonwood County Public Works interim superintendent Steven Schnieder has given an update on the progress of the bridge replacement project on County Road 15 by the Windom Country Club.
Schnieder stated the concrete for the bridge has been fully poured and crews are beginning to remove equipment and backfill. However, the concrete for the bridge needs to fully cure before it can safely open to traffic. The cold temperatures and recent snowfall have slowed the curing process.
Schnieder said crews will work into next week, with the goal of completing the project by the end of the week if the concrete is fully cured.
Additional work will need to be completed in the spring, including paving of the roadway. The roadway will remain gravel through the rest of the winter. In the meantime, the road and bridge remain closed and barricades and signs remain in place until the road can safely open to traffic.
