New Ulm’s offense controlled the game Thursday, as New Ulm claimed an 11-0 victory over the Windom Area girls hockey team at New Ulm.
New Ulm battered the Eagle net early, outshooting Windom Area 28-2 in the opening period and 17-1 in the second. That allowed New Ulm to build an 8-0 lead before tacking on three goals in the closing minutes of the third period.
New Ulm outshot the Eagles 58-8 for the game. Goalie Fiona Robillard finished with 47 saves in the loss.

The Windom Area boys hockey team couldn’t keep up with a furious offensive pace set by New Ulm Thursday night, as New Ulm rolled to a 9-0 victory at the Windom Arena.
New Ulm scored early in the contest, then capitalized on a power play and had an extended five-on-three power play to wear down the Eagles. New Ulm outshot the Eagles 28-2 in the opening period, jumping to a 3-0 lead.
New Ulm then scored nine seconds into the second period and built the lead to 6-0 in the first 2:37 of the second period. New Ulm netted five goals in the period for an 8-0 lead, then scored late in the contest for the 9-0 victory.
New Ulm outshot the Eagles 67-12 for the game. Goalie Kole Espenson finished with 58 saves in the loss.
