A 36-year-old rural Westbrook man is dead following a structure fire Saturday afternoon in rural Westbrook.
Lance Richard Larson was located and pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Department, a 911 call was received at 3:04 p.m. concerning a structure fire at a rural Westbrook address.
The caller stated she was in the house and her son and his father were in the garage when they heard an explosion in the shop. The adult male then ran into the shop and didn’t come back out. Westbrook Fire and Ambulance were dispatched to the scene.
When first responders arrived, the shop was fully engulfed and firefighters were unable to make entry into the building. Mutual aid was requested from neighboring departments.
Firefighters eventually made their way into the shop, where the adult male was located and pronounced deceased at the scene.
