Cottonwood County appears to have caught a break when it comes to the winter storm that roared through part of Minnesota overnight.
The Windom area received less than two inches of snowfall overnight, although the heavy winds overnight created some drifting and freezing on roadways.
Areas to the east and north received considerably more snowfall and are experiencing travel difficulties this morning. According to MnDOT, roadways in Cottonwood County are either experiencing normal winter driving conditions or have light snow cover.
Highway 60 from St. James to Mankato is currently completely covered with snow with icy bridges and roadways. Similar conditions are reported for all roads around the Mankato area Wednesday morning.
