Dennis P. Christopher, 34, of Windom has been charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and felony making threats of violence in Cottonwood County District Court.
According to the criminal complaint, a Windom police officer was dispatched to an apartment in Windom on a report of an assault with a knife. The officer learned Christopher had grabbed a knife and tried to stab the victim.
The victim stated he and Christopher had been playing video games. At one point, Christopher got up to go to the kitchen and grabbed a knife from a drawer and attempted to conceal it behind his back.
When returning, Christopher moved toward the victim, raising the knife in a threatening manner and stating he was going to kill the victim. He told Christopher to put the knife back and leave, which he did.
When questioned by officers, Christopher denied making threats or trying to stab anyone.
If convicted of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, Christopher faces a maximum possible sentence of seven years in prison, a $14,000 fine or both. If convicted of making terroristic threats, Christopher faces a maximum possible sentence of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both.
