Bridge replacement to stretch into December

Construction of the Des Moines River bridge over Cottonwood County Road 15 is taking longer than originally planned.

At Tuesday’s meeting, Cottonwood County Commissioners heard an update on the project.

Interim County Engineer Stephen Schnieder said concrete for the project is still being poured. Once it has cured, railings would be installed.

Rather than the original estimate of Thanksgiving for opening of the bridge, Schnieder said the project likely would run two or three weeks into December.

More from Tuesday’s meeting appears in the Nov. 19 print and e-editions of the Citizen.
