The only election in Cottonwood County on Election Night 2025 saw Khounpraseuth “Rena” Chantharak elected to the Mt. Lake Public School Board.
Chantharak received 74 votes, while write-in candidates received four votes.
Chantharak was appointed to the school board in April when former board chair Chad Pedersen stepped down. Because Pedersen’s resignation came with more than two years left in his four-year term, a special election was required by state law.
In April, the Mt. Lake board voted to move its regular elections to even-numbered years, rather than odd-numbered years. Chantharak is one of four board members whose term will now be contested again in 2028.
