State Class A Meet
The Windom Eagle boys finished ninth and the Mt. Lake Area girls took 16th on Saturday at the Class A State Cross Country Meet, held at the University of Minnesota Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights.
Windom’s boys finished tied for eighth with 229 points, tying with Litchfield, but Litchfield took eighth on a sixth-score tiebreaker. Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson/Houston won the state title with 67 points.
The MLA girls finished with 366 points. New London-Spicer won a sixth-score tiebreaker of St. Cloud Cathedral for the state title. Both teams finished with 97 points.
Individually, Windom’s boys were paced by Bryce Green, who finished in 54th place with a time of 17:01. Nolan Tjentland placed 57th (17:02), followed by Braylen Lyons in 73rd (17:19), Isaac Bordewyk in 97th (17:35) and Caelen Ralston in 104th (17:41).
Mt. Lake Area’s Cooper Evers, who qualified for state individually, finished the boys race in 39th place with a time of 16:50.
The Wolverine girls were paced by Katie Johnson, who earned All-State honors for the second year in a row by placing 25th. Her time was 19:34. Julia Brinkman finished 103rd (21:10), followed by Emily Johnson in 145th (22:52), Hannah Savage in 146th (22:55) and Hannah Beyer in 150th (23:18).
