Section 3A Meet
The Windom Eagle boys cross country team will compete in the Class A State Meet next week after finishing second in the team standings at the Section 3A Meet Thursday in Madison.
The Eagles finished with 78 team points. Top-ranked Redwood Valley won the meet with 35 points. Murray County Central/Fulda finished third with 107.
Windom’s girls finished 14th in the team standings with 326 points. Redwood Valley won the girls title with 52 points. Lac Qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd advances as the runner-up with 110 points.
Individually, Windom’s boys were led by Bryce Green, who captured sixth place with a time of 16:55. He was followed by Nolan Tjentland in 14th (17:35), Caelen Ralston in 19th (17:49), Isaac Bordewyk in 21st (18:04) and Braylen Lyons in 22nd (18:07).
The Eagle girls were paced by Penelope Roberts, who finished 56th with a time of 22:57. Ava Bordewyk was 62nd (23:20), followed by Jesselle Sosa in 67th (23:35), Brynnley Pletcher in 82nd (23:59) and Macie Carlson in 88th (24:12).
Section 2A Meet
The Mt. Lake Area girls cross country team qualified for the Class A State Meet for the third consecutive season Thursday, capturing runner-up honors at the Section 2A Meet at Baylor Park in Norwood-Young America.
The Wolverines finished with 104 team points, edging past Le Sueur-Henderson for the second state berth. Mankato Loyola/Cleveland/St. Clair won the section title with 35 points.
Meanwhile, the Wolverine boys had one individual state qualifier, as the team finished in fifth place with 139 points. Loyola/Cleveland/St. Clair won the section title with 76 points. Sibley East was second with 92.
Individually for the Wolverine girls, Katie Johnson led the way with a fifth-place time of 19:26. She was followed by Julia Brinkman in 14th (20:21), Hannah Beyer in 28th (21:38), Emily Johnson in 36th (22:03) and Hannah Savage in 39th (22:23).
For the Wolverine boys, Cooper Evers captured an individual state meet berth by finishing in fifth place with a time of 16:41. Joseph Torres placed 13th (17:11), followed by Gideon Winger in 34th (18:11), Jacob Lopez in 46th (18:46) and Rolando Tema Tema in 51st (18:55).
