Jackson County Central’s big-play offense rolled up massive yardage and quick points Wednesday night, as the top-ranked Huskies defeated the Windom Eagles 59-6 in the regular season finale at Island Park.
JCC piled up 644 yards of total offense on just 31 offensive plays in the game.
It was Windom’s defense that made the first big play of the night, though, as Keaton LaCanne intercepted a pass by Roman Voss on the second play from scrimmage. However, JCC’s defense forced a three-and out, lighting the fuse for the offensive fireworks.
JCC scored three plays later on a 54-yard run by Tate Phillips for an 8-0 lead.
Windom was able to push down to the JCC 25 on its next offensive series, but a big loss on a quarterback sack forced a punt. On JCC’s next play, Voss raced 87 yards untouched, giving the Huskies a 16-0 lead.
JCC forced the Eagles to punt on their next two drives, with a JCC punt sandwiched between. But early in the second quarter, Voss scored on a 69-yard run for a 24-0 lead.
JCC again forced back-to-back three-and-outs with Windom’s defense forcing a JCC punt. But the Huskies took a 32-0 lead when Voss hit Carter Buhl for a 67-yard touchdown.
Following another Eagle punt, Voss found Phillips for a 75-yard score on the first play of the drive for a 40-0 lead. After another Eagle punt, JCC scored late in the half on a 49-yard pass from Voss to Evan Bartholomaus for a 47-0 halftime lead.
Windom opened the second half driving the ball deep into JCC territory. But a sack on fourth-and-goal from the 3 turned the ball over on downs. JCC capitalized moments later with a 68-yard run by Haiden Warmka for a 53-0 lead.
The Eagles were able to mount another drive late in the third quarter into the fourth quarter, capped when Jackson Joyce hit Nick Walinga for a 9-yard touchdown strike.
JCC then capped the game with a 2-yard touchdown run by Mason Helmers.
Stevie Meyer led the Eagles on the ground with 20 carries for 67 yards. Joyce completed 11-of-26 passes for 99 yards. LaCanne had three catches for 48 yards.

Red Rock Central senior Carter Therkilsen ran wild against Westbrook-Walnut Grove Wednesday night, leading the Falcons to a 42-0 victory over the Chargers to seal an undefeated regular season.
Therkilsen rushed 18 times for 337 yards and four touchdowns in the win.
Therkilsen got the Falcon offense going with a 7-yard touchdown on the opening drive of the game. Later in the opening quarter, Therkilsen showed his breakaway speed, scoring on a 92-yard dash.
Abe Stavnes added a 19-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter before Therkilsen gave the Falcons a 26-0 halftime lead with an 88-yard scoring sprint.
Therkilsen added a 2-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter. The Falcons capped the scoring when Stavnes hit Jonah Skarupa for an 8-yard touchdown late in the third quarter.
In addition to Therkilsen’s 337 yards on the ground, Stavnes added 90 yards on six carries. He also completed 7-of-16 passes for 108 yards. Jordan Therkilsen had two catches for 44 yards.

Renville County West did damage on the ground and through the air Wednesday night, cruising to a 48-8 victory over Mt. Lake Area at Mt. Lake.
The Jaguars took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, scoring on a 35-yard pass and a 9-yard run.
RCW added an 8-yard touchdown run, then hit a pair of 23-yard touchdown passes to take a 34-0 halftime lead.
The Jaguars added a pair of short touchdown runs in the third quarter.
MLA broke the shutout in the fourth quarter on a 5-yard run by Jason Wright. Tryton Khounsanthone hit Damian Aguirre for the two-point conversion.
Khounsanthone rushed 12 times for 77 yards to lead the Wolverine offense. He completed 5-of-18 passes for 54 yards. Jordan Khamkhaykeo had four catches for 53 yards.
