The smell of breakfast filled the Windom Fire Department on Sunday morning as the department hosted its annual Fire Prevention Week open house.
A hearty meal of pancakes, sausage, and biscuits and gravy — served up by the Windom Lions Club — welcomed dozens of community members. The fire hall buzzed with conversation as families gathered around tables to enjoy breakfast together.
Children were especially eager to explore the department’s trucks and gear, with some even turning the fire hall into an impromptu game of hide-and-seek once their plates were cleared.
Throughout the morning, firefighters conducted demonstrations, highlighted by a hands-on showcase of fire blankets. Guests also had the chance to purchase raffle tickets, with this year’s prize going to Amber Labenz.
