Crews from the Windom Street Department have been bringing down a Windom landmark this week, as demolition began Monday at Kastle Kingdom playground.
Windom Mayor Hilary Mathis noted that crews have been taking apart parts of the wooden structure, as the city had numerous requests from volunteers who built the park in 1995 to save particular pieces.
She added that the hope is to use as much of the playground materials as possible to create and sell mementos of the park to help build a fund to construct a new playground.
