On the 50th anniversary of the advent of disco, Windom Area High School turned back the clock and both eliminated and crowned its Homecoming king and queen with disco balls Monday evening in the Gold Gym.
Seniors Haidyn Sammons and Stevie Meyer were crowned queen and king and will reign over Homecoming Week at WAHS.
Candidates were eliminated, one at a time, by freshmen prince and princess Eli Rothenberger and Maci Struck. Candidates received a silver inflatable disco ball when they were eliminated. When just two king candidates and two queen candidates were left, the king and queen each received a multi-colored disco ball, crowning them this year’s royalty.
