Barbecue helps address mental health support

Lisa King, a board member of Unspoken Truth, will host a Community is Recovery Barbecue in support of September Suicide Prevention Month.

The event will take place Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lion’s Club Pavilion, located at Tegels Park in Windom.

The event will feature live music, guest speakers and free food, provided by the Southwest Initiative Foundation.

The barbecue also serves as a gesture of gratitude for the support King has received from the community during her journey to become a certified Peer recovery specialist, mental health youth first aid certified and Project Morning Star assistant director. The event will be supported through donations to Unspoken Truth.

For more on this event, please see the Sept. 17 edition of the Citizen.
