Excitement over the new school year and higher enrollment were among the items discussed at Monday’s board meeting for Windom Area Schools.
Administrative reports from principals Corey Barfknecht, Dane Nielsen and Bryan Joyce all included positive notes as the school year began just over a week ago.
Enrollment increases
Although official enrollment won’t be available until mid-September, Superintendent Jamie Frank presented unofficial numbers at Monday’s meeting and they were positive for the district.
Frank said 67 new students enrolled in the district over the summer, not including kindergartners.
She added that 35 students moved away from the district, resulting in a net increase of 32 students not anticipated.
Official enrollment numbers should be available after the October board meetings.
