Robert Bauling, a 32-year-old Butterfield man, is facing a charge of theft-take/use/transfer movable prop-no consent, which is a felony.
According to the complaint, the investigation began when a Windom police officer received a report from a loss prevention specialist at Casey’s General Store Corporate Office. The specialist reported that Bauling, an employee at Casey’s gas station in Windom, had been stealing cash and cigarettes from the store.
Surveillance footage and the specialist’s investigation report were provided to support the allegations. According to the statement of probable cause, the defendant stole cigarettes and $2,495 in cash.
Bauling later admitted to taking the money from the register, stating he needed it to pay his bills.
The charge has a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
