A furious second-half rally came up just short for the Wings United boys soccer team Tuesday, as the Wings dropped a 4-3 decision to Marshall in St. James.
Marshall led 2-0 at halftime and built the lead to 4-0 behind two point-blank shots in the second half.
The Wings were able to battle back. A run into the penalty area by Edwin Luis resulted in him blasting a shot past the Tiger keeper.
Then, minutes later, Marshall was called for a foul inside the penalty area. Ricky Callejas buried the penalty kick in the net, cutting the Tiger lead to 4-2.
Late in the game, Herson Perez fired a shot from the top of the penalty area that curved past the Tiger keeper, cutting the deficit to 4-3. But the Wings were unable to score the equalizing goal.
Goalkeeper Jesus Guillen finished with 12 saves in the loss.
