The Windom Eagle football team couldn’t finish drives off early, which proved to be costly in a 26-7 loss at Pipestone Friday night.
The Eagles were able to move the ball between the 30-yard lines much of the first half, but would stall out when approaching the red zone.
Pipestone was able to score a trio of first-half touchdowns to take an 18-0 lead, then added a score and a two-point conversion in the third to go up 26-0.
The Eagles got on the board on the final play of the third quarter on a 7-yard Stevie Meyer touchdown run. Rodrigo Hernandez added the extra point for the final score of the game.

Red Rock Central’s offense was firing on all cylinders for the first three quarters Friday night as RRC raced to a 63-20 lead on its way to a 77-44 victory over Nicollet at Lamberton.
RRC scored 30 points in the opening quarter, needing just nine offensive plays in the process.
The Falcons got on the board 47 seconds into the game via their defense. Carter Therkilsen ripped the ball out of the hands of a Nicollet receiver and raced 30 yards with the fumble recovery for a touchdown. The two-point conversion pass from Therkilsen to Finn Batalden gave RRC an 8-0 lead.
Nicollet answered on its next offensive drive, scoring on a 3-yard run to cut the Falcon lead to 8-6, but Therkilsen sprinted past the Nicollet defense on RRC’s first offensive play for a 67-yard touchdown. The two-point run by Abe Stavnes gave RRC a 16-6 lead.
After RRC forced a Nicollet punt, the Falcons went to the air, with Stavnes hitting Jordan Therkilsen for a 5-yard touchdown. Stavnes added the two-point run for a 24-6 lead.
After Batalden intercepted a Raider pass, the Falcons again went to the air for points, as Stavnes found Batalden for a 29-yard touchdown and a 30-6 lead.
After turning Nicollet away on fourth down, the Falcons scored on a 35-yard Stavnes run for a 36-6 lead. RRC stopped Nicollet on fourth down again on the next drive, cashing in with a 5-yard Stavnes scoring run. Austin Imker’s extra-point kick gave RRC a 43-6 lead before Nicollet scored with 15 seconds left in the half, cutting the Falcon lead to 43-14.
RRC’s Marshal Willhite returned the opening kickoff of the second half to the Nicollet 2-yard line. From there, Carter Therkilsen scored on the first offensive play of the third quarter, with the extra point giving the Falcons a 50-14 lead.
After stopping Nicollet on fourth down, the Falcons needed just one play to find paydirt, with Carter Therkilsen scoring on a 48-yard run. On the play, Therkilsen surpassed 5,000 career rushing yards.
After Nicollet scored on an 11-yard touchdown run, the Falcons stretched the lead to 63-20 on a 25-yard touchdown run by Therkilsen.
Nicollet used a long kickoff return and scored against the Falcon reserves to cut the deficit to 63-28, then scored on a 5-yard run early in the fourth to make the score 63-36.
The Falcons answered, as Grant Binnebose returned the ensuing kickoff 60 yards for a touchdown, giving the Falcons a 69-36 lead.
Nicollet scored with 1:10 left on the clock, cutting the RRC lead to 69-44, but Willhite returned the ensuing kickoff 65 yards for a touchdown. Jackson Radmaker hit Braxton Weber for the two-point conversion, making the final score 77-44.
Carter Therkilsen rushed 16 times for 226 yards in the win. Stavnes added 58 yards on seven carries.
Stavnes completed 6-of-8 passes for 81 yards. Batalden had two catches for 34 yards.
