Projects may be coming in the near future to help people who have been addicted to opioids.
At Tuesday’s meeting, Cottonwood County Commissioners began the process of using the county’s share of funds received from the state’s opioid settlement.
Lindsay Chapman-Nesseth from Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services stated the Opioid Settlement Advisory Council has developed a request for proposals application to identify and fund local projects.
“The areas of emphasis for the project include prevention, treatment, recovery and harm reduction,” Chapman-Nesseth said. “The RFPs would be submitted to the advisory council for review. After that, the council will make recommendations to the county board for allocation of funds.”
The board approved the application for RFPs.
