The Windom Pirates saw their season come to an end Sunday afternoon in Brownton with a 3-1 loss to Howard Lake in the Class C Amateur State Tournament.
Howard Lake got on the board in the fourth inning, scoring on a passed ball and a two-run single.
Windom’s lone run scored in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run by Keenan Wenzel.
The Pirates had several hard-hit balls in the game, including three hauled in at the base of the fence in the outfield.
Windom’s best chance to potentially tie the game came in the eighth, when the Pirates put two runners on base with one out, but a hard comebacker to the mound turned into an inning-ending double play.
Luke Gilbertson took the pitching loss, allowing three runs on four hits in four innings. He walked two and struck out two. Collin Lovell worked the final five innings, allowing two hits and striking out four.
