Tanner Evan Fredrickson, 26, of Storden has been charged in Cottonwood County Court with reckless discharge of a firearm within a municipality.
According to the criminal complaint, on July 25, a Cottonwood County deputy was dispatched to Sweden Avenue in the city of Storden on a report of shots fired. The reporting party stated hearing between 8-10 shots, fired east of his residence.
While en route, the deputy was advised the initial reporting party called again after hearing more gunshots and a second reporting party heard three gunshots.
While patrolling in the area of Sorensen Street and Sweden Avenue, the deputy heard four to six fast-firing gunshots. People outside pointed to a neighbor’s house, saying they thought the sounds came from that house.
The deputy checked the back yard of the house he was directed to and encountered Fredrickson, who appeared to be holding a black firearm. Fredrickson fled into the back door of his residence. The deputy retreated to his squad car and saw that all of the lights in the residence started going off.
Deputies tried calling Fredrickson and made commands using a PA system, but Fredrickson would not come outside his residence.
The next day, deputies were able to make contact with Fredrickson, who admitted to shooting an AK-47 at coyotes.
If convicted, the maximum possible sentence is two years in prison, a $5,000 fine or both.
