The Windom Pirates had been slated to open the Region 10C playoffs Wednesday night, however forecasts for heavy rain and severe weather prompted the decision to push the opening game of a best-of-three series against the Fox Lake Foxes to tonight.
Tonight’s game will be played at 7:30 p.m. at Truman.
Game two of the best-of-three series will be played Friday at Island Park, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Game three, if necessary, will be played Sunday at Island Park, starting at 2 p.m.
Windom received the top seed in the regional playoffs, while Fox Lake is seeded eighth. Generally, the higher-seeded team hosts the first game of the series. However, because Truman is hosting the Southwest Sub-State Sr. Legion playoffs Friday and Saturday, the decision was made to move the first game of the series to Truman, rather than forcing Fox Lake to play its home game at a neutral site.
The winners of the quarterfinal series will each have the chance to draft one pitcher from a previously-eliminated team before the semifinal round begins on July 30.
In the other first-round Region 10C playoff series:
- Fourth-seeded Hadley defeated fifth-seeded Pipestone Wednesday in Pipestone, 3-0. Game two will be Saturday at Hadley, beginning at 2 p.m. Game three, if necessary, will be Sunday in Hadley, starting at 2 p.m.
- Second-seeded Milroy Irish defeated seventh-seeded Lakefield Wednesday at Milroy, 10-0. Game two will be Friday at Lakefield, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Game three, if necessary, will be Sunday at Milroy Irish Yard, starting at 2 p.m.
- Third-seeded Jackson and sixth-seeded Worthington had their game postponed due to rain. Heavy rain in Jackson forced game one of the series to be moved to Worthington tonight at 7:30 p.m. Game two will be Friday in Jackson, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Game three, if necessary, will be Sunday in Jackson, starting at 2 p.m.
