The planned hotel project in Mt. Lake took a big step toward becoming reality at Tuesday’s special meeting of the Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners.
The board held a public hearing to discuss a business subsidy policy, which is required if abatements and other contributions are over $150,000.
After approving the subsidy policy, the board held a public hearing on the proposed tax abatement request from Midway Village Inns, LLC, ultimately voting unanimously to allow the abatement agreement.
That request essentially allows the board to enact a resolution that was originally adopted in 2023, calling for abatements on the county’s share of property taxes in the amount of $225,000, over a nine-year period.
